Coogee Seahorses Walla Rugby| U4 - U5 Boys and Girls

After a fantastic and very successful 2025 season with our Walla players, the Coogee Seahorses Walla Rugby programme continues to grow. It is quickly becoming one of the most enjoyable ways for our youngest players to be introduced to rugby. Each week we see more little Seahorses building confidence, learning new skills and most importantly having an incredible time with their friends.

Walla Rugby is designed especially for children aged U4 and U5. Sessions focus on small sided games and fun activities that introduce the basic movements and skills of rugby in a relaxed and supportive environment. It is the perfect first step for children who are curious about the game, whether they already have family at the club or are trying rugby for the very first time.

Our sessions are run by Coogee Seahorses Club President Ash, with the support of several of our older junior players who come along to encourage and guide the younger group. The older players love helping the Walla’s and it creates a wonderful club atmosphere where the little ones feel supported, excited and part of the Seahorses family. Their energy and enthusiasm ensure every child leaves with a big smile on their face.

Walla Rugby is completely non contact, focusing on movement, ball handling and simple game play. Full contact and tackle rugby does not begin until the U8 age group, making Walla a safe and enjoyable introduction to the game.

The programme runs as a training session each Wednesday at Latham Park from 4:00pm to 4:45pm. Along with learning the basics of rugby, children are introduced to the important values of the game including teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play.

Walla Rugby is perfect for both girls and boys, and we warmly encourage all future Wallabies and Wallaroos to come down, join the fun and start their rugby journey with the Coogee Seahorses.
