Coogee Junior Rugby consists of teams from Under 6 through to Under 12 age groups, providing age-specific rugby programs aimed at enjoyably and progressively developing individual skills, fitness and team work of all players in accordance with their physical maturity and understanding of the modern game.
Irrespective of size, body shape or ability, players are given the opportunity to reach their potential in a caring, fun and safe environment

Under 6 to Under 12 Game Styles
Mini’s (Under 6 to Under 9)
Mini’s Rugby is a safe and enjoyable introduction to the skills and principles of the game of rugby. Sportsmanship and fair play are positively encouraged, with minimal emphasis on competition.
Minis rugby is ideal for girls! Evasion is more important than “brawn” at this level. Rugby Australia are actively encouraging girls rugby, particularly for the Sevens program and are on the lookout for talented youngsters.
Under 6’s and 7’s is non-contact, and aimed at improving coordination, confidence, self-esteem and social skills - which improve immensely in a very short period of time.
This helps promote a good basis of health, fitness and motor skills for future years.
Under 8’s and 9’s
provides a safe introduction to contact, including further technical skills and understanding of set plays through modified ‘non-contested’ scrum and lineout situations.
All Mini’s games are played on Saturday mornings at Nagle Park, Maroubra (no games during school holidays).
Juniors (Under 10 to Under 12)
The Junior program continues the development of players and teams into a more structured scenario, while still placing emphasis on safety, teamwork and fun.
Players learn positional skills and tactical principles in a ‘running rugby’ environment within the Randwick Rugby tradition.
Training is on Wednesday afternoons at Latham Park, Moverly Road South Coogee.
Under 6’s to Under 8’s - 4pm to 5pm
Under 9’s to Under 12’s – 5pm to 6pm
In event of wet weather, your team manager will be in contact with you ASAP if any game or training is cancelled or field closed.

Our training field at Latham Park includes an all-weather synthetic surface so is rarely closed, therefore training cancellations can vary team to team.
