About Us

History & Background

Coogee Seahorses is one of the oldest junior rugby clubs in Australia, our first boys ran onto a cold wet pitch in 1959 and our boys having been running onto rugby pitches across the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney in the famous all blacks colours ever since.

This year is our best yet, with 2017 seeing the Coogee Seahorses club having more than 300 boys and girls running onto rugby fields across Sydney, with over 20 teams from the exuberant Under 6 Minis, all the way up to the Under 17’s. During the season our teams play in over 400 games, against over 1,500 other boys with over 3,000 parents and family watching on the sidelines. The Junior Clubs play in competitions that include most other Eastern Suburbs areas including Clovelly, South Coogee, Maroubra, McCauley College, Easts Wallaroos, Bondi, Oatley, Rockdale and the older teams play in Sydney wide competitions.

We pride ourselves on having a great club spirit with all players given the opportunity to learn and enjoy rugby whilst also encouraging achievement and excellence in the greatest game on earth. We had a great year last season, with the majority of our junior teams making the finals, and many were successful in bringing home the silverware with major premierships.

We are also very proud of our individual boy’s achievements including:

•    Numerous boys being selected in Sydney / NSW teams
•    One boy being selected to Wallabies Junior Squad

Coogee also has a long and proud history in rugby with Coogee Oval being the home of the Randwick Rugby Club.

Coogee Seahorses caters for players from the Under 6 age group through to the Under 17 age group.

The teams play matches in their selected competitions which are either Friday night, Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning.

The season commences in early March and concludes in early September every year. Registrations are taken from mid February.

The club has practices on Wednesday evening from 4 to 6 pm at Latham Park, Moverly Road South Coogee 2034.
